Event Description

As we all know World Wetlands Day is celebrated annually on 2 February to raise awareness about the vital role of wetlands in our lives. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.

'A call to take action for wetlands' is the focus of this years’ campaign. It's an appeal to invest financial, human and political capital to save the world’s wetlands from disappearing and to restore those we have degraded. 2 February 2022 is the first year that World Wetlands Day will be observed as a United Nations international day, following its adoption by the General Assembly on 30 August 2021 in a resolution co-sponsored by 75 member states.

Community Science Centre Vadodara is celebrating tomorrow's World Wetland Day by an online invite 10 children from Bhayli village with their mentor Mr. Hitarth Pandya sir who painstakingly tried to restore one neglected Wetland that had improved its Ecology. The wetland and terrestrial birds that are seen frequenting around are true companions to these children. CSC Vadodara will relay one interactive session with them sharing their actions to improve the Wetland, as per the theme of this year's Wetland day celebration. Let's not just celebrate any important day merely for the sake of it, but to recognize the importance of those actions and facilitate people responsible for the change at the right time.
